The Belgian Browning Pistols is the first work of its kind to concentrate on the early FN Browning pistols and the many contract variations. The work is the product of years of research and collaboration between the author, collectors, European museums, ministries and the FN ( Fabrique Nationale ) factory. The Belgian Browning Pistols is set up in an easy reference format to assist both novice and advanced collectors. The history of Belgium, the FN factory and Liege are included to broaden the perspective one may have about the environment where these pistols were made and often used. The Belgian Browning Pistols includes the FN Browning1899 compact pistol model, FN Browning 1899 Large pistol model, FN Browning1900 pistol model, FN Browning1903 pistol model, Grand Browning, FN Browning 1910 pistol model, FN Browning 1922 pistol model, Grand Rendement, and FN Browning 1935 ( Hi ) High Power pistol model. Licensed copies like the Swedish 1907 Husqvarna and Canadian Inglis High Power pistols are also included. More importantly contract variations and contract details are discussed in detail. FN Browning pistols used by the governments of Belgium, the Belgian Congo, France, the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire (Turkey), Sweden, Imperial Russia, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Paraguay, El Salvador, the Netherlands, Japan, Syria, Yugoslavia, Greece, Romania, Lithuania, Argentina, and other are detailed with both related contract information as well as photography. Asides from the contracts, the wartime produced pistols like the FN Browning 1922 and 1935 High Power are shown while explaining the differences between the WaA613, WaA103 and WaA140 markings and variations. Post liberation variations of the FN Browning 1922 and High power pistols, commonly known as "A Prefix pistols" are discussed as well. Most of this work is set up chronologically to facilitate study. The history of Fabrique Nationale is covered in detail from the beginnings in 1889 through both the World Wars and German occupations. This work further includes biographies on key individuals like the inventor; John Moses Browning, Val Browning and Fabrique Nationale’s engineer Dieudonne Saive. Detail markings and accessories like cleaning rods, FN Browning 1903 and High Power shoulder-stocks are also illustrated. A photographic chapter on holsters was also added to further aid collectors. The FN Browning pistols were the most distributed pistols throughout history. The Belgian Browning Pistols is an excellent reference guide to understand where and when these contracts were filled.
